Divided opinion appears to exiet on the Auckland Council of the United Labour party on the question of settling industrial disputes by arbitration and con« ciliation. The council, by 29 rotes to 27, has called on the secretary, Mr, T. Walsh, to resign, and in an interview Mr. Walsh] states tho reason for the ocuncil's action was the fact thbij he had strongly, opposed the pro-eyndicalist policy advocated by a. section of tho party.
