ST. HELEN'S HOMES.
COMPLAINTS MADE TO PREMIER. (By TelecraDh —Press Association.) Auckland, November SO. B-epresentations were mado to the Prime Minister by a deputation regarding tho nursing and general treatment of women at the St. Helen's Maternity Home. It was stated that, though the home was intended for tho wives of poor men, such were often refused admittance, though others, whose husbands were earning good salaries, were admitted. Allegations were also mado with regard to tho conduct of tho homo from a nursing point of view, and the desirability of a magisterial inquiry was mentioned. Tho Prime Minister said that somewhat serious allegations had been made regarding tho method of treatment of women admitted to tho homo. Arrangements had already been mado for a magisterial inquiry.
