EDUCATION INSTITUTE.

'A meeting of the Wellington branch of the Wellington District Education Institute was (held in. the Education Board offices last evening, Mr. C. Watson presiding. The meeting considered all the remits somo 67—which are to be discussed at the annual conference of the N.Z.E.I. to be held at New Plymouth shortly. A letter was-received from the executive of the Wairarapa branch, suggesting that before the W.D.E.I. submits to the Education Board any question 'affecting teaciht ens as a whole, the same should be referred to tlie Wairarapa branch of the Wellington District Institute for an expres-. sion of opinion.' The chairman moved that the branch be written to thanking them for their suggestion.—Carried. Remit 37, from the Wellington branch', stated: "That the execntive of the N.Z.E.I. be urged to agitate for the introduction of the additional staffing as provided for by regulation." The chairman said that it was about the most important reform which, the Institute could make. (Applause.) He concluded by saying that the Wellington delegates should be instructed to make this tho prominent matter at tho meeting of the council.
