The London correspondent of tho "Manchester Guardinn" states that the recent visit to England of Lord Kitchener was for the purpose of haying something done with his leg, which, since au accident in India, has interfered with .his comfort, Lord Kitchener • had thought of having tho limb broken ■ again and reset.. Ho consulted n surgeon in London mid one in Liverpool and tliey advised him tlmt it was quite impossible to have the leg broken again, , for conditions had sot in which made such an operation far more serious than it would have been, formerly and loss likely, of succcss. In a battered; rust-oncrusted tin bos picked up on Seahnm Beach by a Sundorland workman recontly was the following message on old paper:—"December 31, ' 1880, Pound • Street, Sligo, Ireland.Mother Shipton says that tho wourld will come to an end in 1881, so I am going to clear out to' escape the lire. 1 am in a small boat in the Chanel waling for tho joy bells to stop; Ihoit I tako tho leap. I lSivo all mi belongings to finder, which consists ,of one cow, ono nil, one lurohor dub.—James Daley,"
