Sis weeks previously she made the acquaintance of a young man, and a weeß bofore the wedding sho bccame fnendly with a second eligible partner. Both young men, with many other friends and acquaintances, gathered at the railway station on September 21 to give the girl a hearty send-off on her return to America. Then the youth who had known her only a week begged her to remain behind and marry him. She_ was undecided, and while he persisted in his lovemaking he dragged her boxes from the guard's van of the train. Thereupon the other young man appeared. He passionately urges the girl to adhere to her intention to retunl to America. ■ He would follow her in a month's time, he told her, and marry her, and ho bundled her boxes back into the train. ■ Some quick luggage transfers ensued, to the amusement o£ the spectators, until the girl deolared in favour of the lover who wanted her- to remain in the Old Country, and 'who- declared that sho would have no luck if she went away.
