(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.). ■ • • Gisborne, November 29. \ The principal event in connection with the Poverty Bay boxing ■ championships was the match between Truscott (chaileneer), of Australia, and Murphy (holder), of Wellington, for. the professional welterweight championship of the Dominion. In the third round Truscott was acclaimed, the'winner on the'ground that Murphy haci delivered a low blow. As far as ,tlio conitest had gone, Truscott was .easily winning on points. Bffiides taking the ag(rressive throughout he had niiich the D6tter of the exchanges at close Tange. No heavy blows, however, had so far,been struck. Naturally the big crowd of spectators woro disappointed at the brevity ot the encounter, but they coiild not help agreeing with the decision. Murphy said, in addressing the crowd, "God is my judge. At a committee meeting of the executive of Te Ruru Club last evening, the following programme for this season was decided upon :-Deoember 8, 1912, cruising race for Mr. Bothamley's trophy; January 13, 1913, cruising race for Mr. J. J. Clarke's trophy! February 1, cruising race for Te Kuru Challenge Cup and Mr. Brooke Taylor's pennant; February 1, launch cruising racs for Mr. Byrne s trophy; February 2, novel"race for Mr. Riernan's trophy; February 15, ladies' cruising race for tho "Ethel trophy; February IG, cruising race for club championship and Mr. J. J. Firth's trophy; February IG, launch cruising race for. "TCeanV trophy; March 9, club outing; March 23,-club' outing; April 20, consolation race for Mr. Dwyer's trophy. • The committee also decided to provide n second prizo for each race. Twelve new members, bringing in seven more boats, were elected. Tho committee have resolved that all boats competing in club events must carry, the club's burgee. . BOWLS. THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. ' A meeting of the Welliwrton Bowling Centre was held in tho Wellington Club's pavilion Inst evening. Mr. V. Dimock occupied the chnir. Among those nrewnt were: Messrs. Gamble. Scott. Powell, Marquis, Newcomhe, Cox, Pavv, Thompson, Hill, Kinniburgh, Mitchell, Stanrall, Mcrrah, Churchward. ' Tho following executive, committee was appointed:—Messrs. E. .T. Hill, Marquis, Powell. Kinnibnrgh, Hneston, together with the chairman and secretary. A vote, of thanks was passed to tho secretary for his work in connection with tho southern bowlers.
