Aurora, the exploring ship pf Dr. Mawson'g Antaictio expedition, has left the Macquaries, and is duo here- on December 15. She will afterwards return to the Macquaries to bring back the expedition. An important discovery was made during the voyage down, tending to confirm the theory that there was a formeT land connection between Tasmania and Antarctica. When the vessel was two hundred miles south, soundings. showed a rocky ridge at a depth of seven hundred fathoms, extending almost due north and 60uth.
