FARES TO NEWTOWN.

• -vv HE. TEEGEAB'S MOTION DEFEATED, Tramway sections on the Newtown run were reconsidered .by the City . Council last night, when Councillor TregeM moved - the following motion, ot which he hac given notioe:— • .. "That the tramways section from . Newtown be modified so far as to . provide for the Newtown and Constable: Street cars, the ending of the . first section shall bo at the Caledonian Hotel (near Basin Keserve), and the ending of the second section at the Royal Oak Hotel, .corner of Cuba and ~. Manners Streets." He said he acquiesced in the general, scheme of the new sections, but ■na thought some modifications of the lengths . ought to be made.
