Robertson, the nawly-appoJated Public Servioe Commissioner, was inua..., dated with congratulations yesterday, When ho arrived at his office in tho morn-' ing, the men of the Head Office were lined up to reoeive him, and later he was interviewed by deputations representins all branches of th« Port and Tele-v graph Department. Hearty congratula- , tions, mingled with expressions of. regret at losing him, were showered upon Mr,:. Hobertson. Similar sentimente . were, ex-'. pressed in messages which, arrived during: the day from all parts of the Dominion. , Mr. Robertson will continue to hold his office as Secretary to the Post Office ■ until December 31 of this year. Together with his Assistant-Commissioners, h.O will . tafce up his new duties on January 1, 1913. A great deal of organisation work . will lave to bo done before the Publio Service Act comes into full operation, oa April 1, 1913. Not much,can be done before tho beginning of Januajy -next 183 Mr. Trig'gs is not to arrive in the Dominion from Australia until then or thereabouts. . ' • Mr. A. D. Thomson will continue to discharge the duties of magisj trate at Palznerston North until the ©ad' of the year. His successor in the magis« tracy has not yet been appointed.
