CONFERENCE OF ARCHITECTS
$ (By Telegraph.—Press Associations Dunedin, November 2". ' The New Zealand Institute of Architects opened-its annual conference at Dunedin to-day, Mr. A. Atkins, of Wellington, presiding. A deputation of builders requested that certificates ol' completion be issued by architects limiting builders' liabilities, which at present extend even after the certificate of payment has been issued. The deputation, which was headed by Mr. Lindsay (president of the New Zealand Builders' Association) also requested that the passing of plans by local authorities bo attended to. by architects, not builders. These matters will be considered by the executive. The annual report stated that the membership was 77 follows, and -IS associates, a total of 125 (exclusive of students), being an increafo of 20. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr. I*. Y. Wales (Dunedin); lion, secretary, Mr. R. F. Bacon (Wellington); hon. treasurer, Mr. F. de J. Clero (Wellington); auditors, Messrs. Badlmm and Biss (Wellington). Messrs. Cecil Trevithiclc, A.R.1.8.A.. and A. P. Wilson (Auckland), J. T, Mair, A.11.1.8.A, (Wellington), J. E. Roe (Tlnwera), E. Anscombe (Dunedin), promoted from associates, were elected fellows, and Messrs. 11. C. Griorson, W. L. Fletcher, F. .1/. Moodier, R. A. Abbott, T. 11. Bates, and N. Carryer (Auckland), Henri Bastings (Grevmouth), T[. M'D. Smith (Invercargill), and W. S. Anderson were elected associates.
