MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M.) CIVIL LTST. THE LOWER HUTT HALL. Dr. Jt'Arthur, S.M., delivered judgment in the case in which Fleming Ross, uccountant, "Wellington, sued Duggan and Westbury, mechanics, Lower Hutt, for £32 17s. Gd., which amount was said to bo due for ten weeks' rent of the Lower Hutt Drill Hall (J!30), and for 23 chairs broken and damaged (X 2 17s. Gd.). His Worship decided that plaintiff could not succeed against Westbury, but he gave plaintiff judgment against Duggan for .£26 55., with costs. UNDEFENDED CASES. ' His Worship's decision was in favour of the plaintiff for the amount claimed. ■ THE YACHT MALNA. R. Huffam,. boat builder, Wellington, proceeded against James Bonner, hulkkeeper, Wellington, for .£l2 14s. The sum claimed concerned the repairing of the yacht Malna.. Mr. T. Neave appeared for the plain-' tiff, and Mr. P. W. Jackson for the defendant. After hearing evidence his Worship entered judgment for plaintiff for' .£lO with costs i' 3 is. . - POLICE CASES. (Before Mr. W., G. Riddell, S.M.) ■SAILORS IN TROUBLE. James Morris and James Manclo were eacli sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment for having, without leave, absented themselves, from the steamer Ruahine. George Edgar Chancy was sentenced to one month's'imprisonment for having deserted the steamer Tongarira. THE HEDGE-CLIPPER. William I'arrett was. fined £1 for having stolen a pair of liedge-clippers and a sickle belonging to C. J. Jacobson. Chief-Detective Broberg stated that Parrett had gono to Jacobsoit's residence, and after asking for something to eat, had expressed willingness to clip the hedge. Ho had then been' handed the hedge-clippers and the sickle, but had gone off to a second-hand dealer's shop with them. CHRISTCHURCH CASE. ' . Daniel Fitton and Rose Fitton were remanded to appear at Christchurch today on a charge of their having failed to for the adequate maintenance of : . their child.
