Buckrell to transfer Sections 2 and i, Block 11, Mangahao, to Charlotte S. Slaok was recommended. —Approved. H. Burling, jun., applied to transfer Section 6, Block 111, Puketoi, to David Thoitlas.—Deferred till next meeting for statement of land held'and proposed transferee. 1 The application of E. T. Brondbelt to subdivide and transfer 3 acres of Section 3,;810ck VIII, Makotuku, to G. H. Jackson, was reconsidered.—Postponed. The representatives'of W. Chisholm' (deceased) applied to.substitute a sub-lease of Section 46, Block 'I, Kopuaranga, to H. Nielsen for remainder of term of lease, in place of a transfer previously granted — Approved on the usual conditions. G. L. Stroud applied to sublet Section' 83, Taihape V.S. Extension, to A. Managh for two "years, from December 1, 1912.— Approved. ' : The application by the mortgagee in the estate of F. E. Wilkins to transfer Section 9, Block XI, Rangataua, to R. D. • Wallace, was renewed.—Declined. D. J. C. Templeton applied for consent to a grant of tramway Tights over Section 13, Block XI, Manganui, to Jas. Faulkner for a term of. six years.—Approved. The following applications were received to convert the tenure to freehold :— J. Prime, Section 5, Block 111, Hautapu. ; H.'R. T. Douglas, Section 28G, and Part 1 of 287, lifocks X and Xl.'Wainuioru. Tho ranger reported that Mr. G. W. Wilkinson was.residing on Section 93, Taihape V.S. Extension, and it was resolved to rescind the forfeiture. Thos. M'Dermon applied to withdraw his application for a lease of Section G, Block XVII, Horopito West, and obtain a refund of his deposit.—lt was resolved to deoline' to return deposit, but that he be allowed to withdraw his application. The ran'ger having reported Mr. Cl Clement had completed the milling of timber on jiart of Section 2G, Block VI, Hautapu, it was resolved to allow him now to apply for the license over his reserved area Part 1 of Section 21, Block VI, Hautapu, at a royalty of 10s., on such terms and conditions as tho Commissioner may see fit to fix. Mrs. F. S. Street wrote suggesting that the'rental at which she has been offered a renewal of her lease of Education Reserve Section. 47, Hunterville Township, be Teduced from £10 to about £8 10s — It was resolved that unless she agrees to take a renewal on tha terms offered, a lease of the land will be offered to public auction in terms of Clause 9 of the lease. . ' Mr. J. B. Hall wrote suggesting that the rental at which he has been offered a renewal of his lease of 'Education Reserve Section 152, Hunterville Township, be reduced from M 2s. 6d. to about £2 15s.—It was resolved that unless he agrees to take 'a renewal on the terms offered, a lease of the land will be offered by public auction in terms of Clause 9 of the lease. T. P. Treacey applied for 12 months exemption from residence on Section G, Block V, Hunua, as he wants to take work at Te Ivuiti for his team of horses while timber is being milled from the section.—lt was resolved to grant three months' leave: of absence under tho circumstances. John Henson applied for a license to split totar'a for railway sleepers on Section .5, Block 11, Hunua.—Resolved to grant license over an area of 20, acres in a locality to bo marked out by tho ranger, at tho same rate of royalty as in the former license, over part or the section subjectUo ranger's supervision. • The following selectors had not complied with conditions of residence or improvements, and it was resolved to take action as noted against each, case C. P. Smith, Section 2, Blocks XI and XIII, Kaitieke. Resides at Raurimu, and asks permission to continue there until roads are in better condition.—Resolved to give selector notice that he must reside.
j. E. Hitchcock, Section 7, Block VI, Maungakaretti—non-residence. — Resolved that ho must reside at tho beginning of January next. A. E. Smith, Sections 9, 11, 13, Block VII, Owhango Township. Non-residence and deficient improvements.—Resolved to grant three months' time in which to dispose of Bcction. H. T. Pascoe, Section 2, Block V, Horopito West Township. Non-residence. As work is too far away will havo to forfeit section.—Resolved to _ forfeit and reoffer weighted with value "of improvements. Mrs. A. _A. Bobbongton, Section 113, Block XIII, Belmont, Maungaraki' Settlement. Is living at Lower Hiitt and i.nde&vouring to sell.the lease.—Resolved to suspend action for three months. G. H. Broome, Section 77, Block VIII, Bemont Normandale Settlement. Living in Martinboroush and endeavouring to' sail out.—Resolved to suspend action forthreo morths. P. M'Partland, Section 29. Block XIX, Ohakune V.S. Defieient improvements and non-residence —Resolved to give him notice-to comply with conditions or forfeit the lease. H. Ssarle, Section 19, Block IV, Owhango Township. Has left New Zealand and is not returning.—Resolved to forfeit and reoffer for selection, weighted with any improvements existing. T. C. Holley, Section 40. Ohakune V.S. No improvements.—Resolved to notify him (hat unless ho proceeds at once to comply with conditions, his interest will be forfeited. C. Beaumont, Section 5, Block I, Owlinp<*o Township. Is Tending on Section 1, Block IV, Kaitieke. Has built house on Section 5, which he desires to let.—Resolved to give - him notice to reside or forfeit the lease; A. E. Chamberlain. Section 1. Block XVI, Knilieke. Non-residence, but applies to acquire the freehold under Section 15 of the Land Laws! Amendment Act, 1912— Resolved to allow him to purjia.se the. freehold. No advice having been received that P. Leahy had' paid rates owing on Foeteon 27.' Block XITI, Ohiuewairua.—Resolved to ieke no further action. Mr. JI. W. Siretton. who ocoupios GJ acres in Block VI, Uunua S.D., ou a temporary permit from year to year, applied for a better tenure.—Declined. _ It was resolved to approve o£ I!. M'Neil being grantwl a permit to occupy Sections 1 and 3. Block IV. Mangaweka North Township, at a rental of ,C 2 per anniim, subject to usual conditions and determination at any lime, with no compensation for improvements. Tt was revived to approve of Mr. A. ftcaiigo being granted a permit to occupy f'-'ciwn 15, Bbck V, Mangaweka North Township, from year to year, at a rent •>f JEI per annum, subject to usual con-
ditions .to determination at any time with no compensation for improvements. The ranger reported on Run No. 30 in. the Motukawa Block, IGOO acres (part ot the national endowment), now held by Archibald Fletcher, whose pastoral lease iviil expire on February 28, 1911, and it was resolved to offer by public auction for a term of eleven years from March 1, 11)14, weighted with value of improvements, at an upset annual rental of >£70 por annum. . It was resolved to approve of Run 29, Motukawa Block, 1234 acres, the Jiresent lease of which expires on February 28, 191-1, being re-offered on pastoral lease for a term of eleven years at an upset rental to bo fixed by the Commissioner, and weighted with Valuation, for improvements. , it. J. O'Connor renewed his application for Section 21, Block 11, Maungakaretu — Declined. The Commissioner submitted a schedule of pieces of ten lots in the South Waimarino (Waipapa) Block, and it was resolved to offer these lands as second-class land under Part 111 of the Land Act, 1908, and its amendments, at the prices as noted on records 23151-G23, and to recommend that exemption for four years from rent and general rates Ixs given under Section 127 of the Land Act, 1908. The board considered the advisability of offering sections in the Mawaihakona Township (near Trentham) for sale, and it was resolved to re-offer on same terms as formerly. Mr. E. 11. Johanscn applied for a reduction in. the rent charged him for occupation of Mangatainoka J. 4F28 and 2 2C. —It was resolved that the board cannot seo its way to entertain his request. .Rent, to date from February 1, 1911. ■ It was resolved to decline A. W. Pedersen's application for a license to mill timber on Sections 13, 14, and 15, Block XVI, Manganui; G. Wisdom wrote that' ho cannot take up a lease of Sections 34 to 38 village of Marshall, at the rent proposed ,to bo charged, and it was resolved to invite tenders for a new lease for such term and at such uj>sst rental os may bo fixed by the Commissioner. _ ' ■ | An application for additional land wa9 received from H. R. Smith, the lessee of Sections 35 and 3G, Pongaroa V.S., and declined. G. H. Gillajd, who was advised on August 12, 1910, that tho board could not seo its way to allot him additional landwithout competition, renewed his application.—Declined. Jas. M'Davitt applied for additional land in Puketoi and Mt. Cerberus districts.—lt was resolved to decline. - A similar application by .Mrs. Minnie • A. Sullivan was also declinod. With regard to the area of 20. acres, part of Section 5, Block 11, Puketoi, which it is proposed to allot to Messrs. Olsen Bros, under Section 138 of tho Land Act, 1908, it was resolved to fix the prico in terras of records 27039/422. C. M'Davitt, who holds a permit to occupy Section 92, Block VII, Mangahao, from year to year subject to determination at any time, stated that ho had transferred 1 his interest to I'.' Ryan. .Mrs. M'Quinn applied for tho lease.—lt was resolved to terminate M'Davitt's l e ®se at end of the present year, and to offer for lease by public tender for a term of five years at an upset rental of £2 per annum.
The Rev. J. J. Legarth wrote that ho did not desire a renewal of his lease of Education Reserve Section 38, Block XIV, Mangaone, which expires ou December 31 next.—lt was resolved to offer the land for leasing on the usual conditions, at an upset rental of J22 ss. per annum, as assessed by the ranger. G. Moore submitted an agreement between J. W. M'Ras and X F. M'Rae (vendors) and George Moore, jun. (purchaser) for the subdivision and transfer of portions of Section 886, Blocks X and XIV, Rowa, in. order to obtain a practicable fencing lino.—lt was resolved to approve, provided the Commissioner is satisfied.
•Jilrs. M. C. M. Low, having applied for additional land without competition, adjoining her holding, Section 2, Block VII, Whirinaki, the board resolved that it cannot see its way to entertain her application. ' ' '. '
Sir. E. H. Whiteman, representing the Wanganui County Council, waited on. the, board and applied for consent to .an easer ment being-given to the'county to enternpon part sub-Section 7 of Section 125, left bank Wanganui River, under the provisions 'of the Lan'j|„ Settlement'; Finance Act, 1909, and,its'amendments, to makea road and take gravel therefrom for road construction, royalty to bo paid'at 4d. per yard, and the right to extend over twenty years.—Resolved that upon the agreement between the county and the purchaser of the land being submitted, the Minister for Finance will be recommended to consent to the. application. It was decided to hold the next mooting; of the board on December 19.
