The opening day of Stratford's third show was spoilt by wet weather. : Two days of heavy rain, was succeeded by a heavy Scotch;mist, which, made itself an unpleasant feature. The attendance, in consequence, was small,"-.'. but .the entries were large, and tne quality of the stock surpassed that of-other -years. .The weather has now cleared, ■ and. the prospects'foi "People's Day", are promising; Championships were awarded as'follow:— Pedigree Jersey—Bull: W. V.. Harkness (Tariki)j reserve:. A; and J. O'Donriell (Inaha); cow:.A. .and Ji O'-Donnell; reserve: W. M. Bayly. ■ Ayrshires—Bull: J. Kyle; reserve:. W. .Halt (Lepperton); cow: C. Karsteu (Waikanae); reserve: J. Kyle. Holsteins—Bull: Newton King; reserve; W. I. Lovelock (Palmerston North); cow: AV. I. Lovelock; reserve: Newton. King. , Herefords—J-. Forbes (Normanby). Shorthorns—G.' A. Turner (Eltham). The ..butter-fat competition was won by Mr. R. D. Harkness's cowlast year's winner, her figures for tho four days' competition being:—l97Jlb. milk, 5.6 test, 1061b. butter-fat. Tho same cow won the.casein competition with 3.4 casein test, G.711b. casein, 11.061b. butterfat, and total 17.77. ■ , .
