THE WARDER FIRES.
PRISONERS ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE. '(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Invercargill, November 27. Two prisoners at the Invercargill Reformatory prison attempted to escape on Tuesday afternoon. They were working in a concrete shed, and walked out when the warder was engaged in supervising the loading of a truck. They were seen by another warder, who was posted on an elevated bridge. He called on them to stop or he would fire. One prisoner threw up his hands and stopped. The other ran. The warder firea, end the prisoner throw himself down in a ditch and gave up the attempt. They will be charged with attempting to escape from custody.
