SET UP LOCAL NAVIES?

UTTERANCE BT THE ADMIRAL, (By. Tolesraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, November 27. Speaking at a luncheon given by tht Harbour Board in honour of his ; visit, the naval commander (Admiral Sir George King'-Hall) said his opinion waa that we shall have a Pacific fleet, comprising divisions from the Dominions whose shores are washed by that ocean. He saw no reason why a beginning should not be made by this Dominion joining forces and co-operating with the Commonwealth in forming a Australasian Navy. There were no difficulties that could not be overcome by tact and seamanship. He' thought the question of building a Dreadnought dock big enough to take tho largest war and merchant vessel would 60on have to be considered by the very progressive Auckland Board. • • ■

Mr. Mnsscy, speaking after the Admiral, said the whole question of naval defence was so important that it required to be reconsidered. The Government of Now Zealand was now in communication with 'the Imperial Government on the subject, but whatever happened he waa convinced the people and Government of Now Zealand would do their duty to the Empire. • ,
