SIR MATTHEW DAVIEfa. .. (Rec. November 27, 0.45 a.m.) Melbourne, November 26, Sir Matthew Davies, who was Speaker of the legislative Assembly, from ' 1837' to 1892, is dead, aged 62.
Sir Matthew Davies was .a native of Geelong. He sat in tho Victoiikn Parliament from 1883 to 1892, and took a prominent part in connection with the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1888. He presented .filO.OflO to the hospitals and other public institutions in. connection with Queen. Victoria's Jubilee in 1887. He was knighted in 1890.
