As a. result, of an interview between the managers of kinematograph entertainments and Mr. Mower, the Chief Secretary, a. compromise Has been reached regarding the censorship of. fiims. The Government will accept the censorship in London anrl New York, reserving the right •'to condemn a film even though.it has been passed in thosa cities. The present regulations; shall apply to locally-produced films and those not submitted to censorship in London and NewYork. Pictures exhibited in Sydney will be permitted to be shown, in the country. ■ The regulations shall apply to pictures shown in the country-before being produced in the city. •' The period of notioe pf' a programme will be. reduced to sis hours instead of twenty-four. _ -The, Minister regulation under wliich 'he'may-' authorise any film to be passed by a censorship recoghised by him. Such-films need hot be. screened' for the. information' of the police.'
