. Masterton, November 25. j Interviewed to-ilight in reference to a ] rumour regarding an impending cassation of work by slaughtermen, Mr. 3. C. Coo- > per, managing director of the Wellington ; Farmers' Heat Company, stated that the , slaughtermen's award for the South • Is- : land expired on January 17, and, for the i Wellington and Wairarapa Companies, < about the end of January. Sir. Cooper , thinks that,' although notice of cancella- ; tion of registration may now bo > there will bo no cessation of work unti ; the middle or end of January, which will be the busiest part of the season. The demands are for 30s. , per hundred for , sheep and 25 per cent.' increase for bul- ; locks, but this is not the. worst feature. • The men demand that there shall be only | one learner in twenty instead of me in ■ two, and that the sheep pens shall be covered. The question of learners is ! j serious one for companies with an id i creasing output. . ' •
