On the reassembling of the High Court, the Judges paid impressive tributes to the late Mr. Justice O Connor. In the other courts similar tributes were paid to the late Sir William Owen, formerly of the State Bench. SHIPPING RUMOUR DENIED. London, November 24. The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, Ltd., and the Cunard Company deny the report that a big shipping combine is being formed, embracing the British India, Cunard, Furness ari Withy, Peninsular and Oriental, and Royal Mail Packet Lines. IMMIGRANTS' COMPLAINTS. London, November 24. An English emigrant residing at Yass, in New South Wales, in a letter to the "Daily Mail," resents the criticism levelled at newcomers by those Australian newspapers which are supposed to represent' the working class. ADVANCE IN MINERS' WAGES. London, November 24. The Northumberland coal-owncrs and the miners have agreed to a 3j per cent, advanoe in wages to underground workers. SPEECH LASTS DAYS. London, November 24. During arbitration proceedings between the Post Office and the Telephone Company, Sir John Simon, Solicitor-General, made a speech lasting nine and a half days. IMPORTED STALLION DEAD. Sydney, November. 24. Mr. Payten's imported stallion Petrillo is dead. MURDER AT ETON COLLEGE. London, November 24. A murder has occurred at Eton College, where a porter named Sedgwick stabbed to the heart a servant girl named Davis, who was employed in one of the boardinghouses. __________
