WAIHI & LOYALTY.
APPEAL TO BOROUGH COUNCILS. At last evening's meeting of the Hutt, Borough Council, a letter was received from the Wailri Borough Council stating that, in view of the recent happenings at Waihi, the tearing down of the Union Jack, and the lengths that the "Red Plaggers" were prepared to go, they had passed the following resolution, and asked for the Hutt co-operation:— "That it be a condition of all futuro employment on the borough works that each and every person employed by the Borough Council must sign a declaration affirming his or her loyalty to the King and the Union Jack, nna that none other than those affirming their loyalty to the King and the flag shall be employed in any capacity on the borough, works, and that it be an instruction to the town clerk'to forward copies of this resolution to all local bodies throughout the Dominion inviting co-operation." ■ On the motion of the .Mayor (Mr. Bunny) it was' resolved to\ forward a reply sympathising with Waihi, but at the same time pointing out that 6uch co-operation was not accessary in Lower Hutt.
