Yick-Regat,. Mr. Gavin Hamilton, the Govemor-de-signate's private secretary, is due to arrive in Wellington by the Ruapeku on December 10. The household staff, ■to the number of twenty-one, will also ar-' rive by . that steamer. According to the latest information, the Earl and Countess.of Liverpool, accompanicd by Miss Foljamb (her Ladyship's companion), and Lieutenant Eastwood, A.D.C., will arrive in Auckland by the P. and 0. Company's steamer Malwa on December 18. His Excellency the Governor returned to Auckland city yesterday from a weekend visit to Mr. C. A. Whitney. To-day Lady Islington will lay the foundationstone of the new ambulance station, and in the evening she will be the guest of the Y.W.C.A. at a concert an the Town Hall. A garden party will be given by their Excellencies on Wednesday.—Press Association. .
The Hon. Jas. Allen will leave for Dunedin to-morrow or on Thursday, and will not return to Wellington until December- 11, two days prior to his departure for Sydney, en route to England.
Captain Sliawe, chief. A.D.C.,- will airive in Auckland on December 17 by the Makura (from Canada).
The Hon. H. D. Bell is to leave this afternoon for Nelson, where lie is to open a new building erected by the Nelson Institute, a body founded in 1852 which exists for the promotion of: public information by the provision of museums, libraries, etc., and also by means of lectures and meetings. Mr. Bell will return to Wellington on Sunday next.
Mr. G. L. Petersen arrived at the Bluff yesterday to moke arrangements for the New Zealand tour of Messes.' Wirth Brothers' Circus" and Wild West show, which opens at Invercargill on, December -10.
Sir Joseph Ward was entertained by friends at the Bluff on Saturday night, as a farewell prior to his departure on a trip to England. Sir Joseph Ward, Lady Ward, Mass Eileen Ward, and Master Patrick Ward, left the Bluff yesterday for Melbourne, where they will join the Moldavia. Tlio party wero enthusiastically farewelled and cheered by a large crowd on tho wharf. —Press Association.
