[Bt Glencoe.] The attention of owners with horses engaged at the Woodville meeting _is drawn to the closing of acceptances, which takes place on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. ■ • Mr. W. Cooper s mare Simbonnet has been sent to Advance. The Seaton Delaval mare lias a fine upstanding colt foal at foot by San Fran. ■ Jockey L. Wilson will ride Mendip in tho St. Andrew's Handicap at Peilding, and if sufficiently recovered from his ill-, ness A. Oliver will rido Odessa, while B. Deeley will take tho mount on Patriotic, and C. Emerson will ride the Oaks wmnei\ Brown Owl. The Hawera horseman, L. Noddor, who was hurt at the recent Ellerslie meeting, has mado a good recovery, and was riding work on the Egmont tracks last week. The fields for the Scurry events at Feildiug contain the names of a few horses that have the reputation of being very smart over short courses. Amongst these may be mentioned Alecto, Lord Lupin, Neirene, Otter, The Dodger, and Lucerne. The last-named pair liail from Hawera. . Tho cross-country rider, W. Adams, who sustained a broken leg and collarbone at the Dannevirke races on September 11, is not doing as well as might be expected. It appears that tho broken leg will be about two inches shorter when taken out of plaster of paris, necessitating another fracture.
L. Carrick, who trains for Mr. R. ICerehomaj remained at Riccarton . after the New Zealand Cup meeting, and took War; light and King's Favourite to Timaru. The former rail badly, and was sold for 110 guineas; and the latter died from inflammation. Carrick returned to Hastings on Saturday. Jockeys F. Cress, E. Lowe, and H. Watson, who were riding at the Timaru meeting, returned to Hastings on Saturday last. Reports from the south state-that the new owner of Vicc-Admiral is quite satisfied with the horse's weight in the Auckland Cup, and Trainer Murray Hobbs will take the Multiform horse to Ellerslie early next month. Tho Great Autumn Handicap winner Cheddar has been taken in hand ajain by T. Quinlivan. Other recent additions to the team controlled by Quinlivan are Trojan, the two-year-old colt by Achilles out of Liuly Helen, and a filly of tha same age by Royal Artillery—Lady Rylstone.
