Tho by-election for Bolton to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Harwood's death resulted as follows:— ' Taylor (Liberal) 10,011 Brooks (Unionist) 8,835 Majority for Taylor .... 1,176 [The polling at the last general election was as follows:—G. Hanvood (Liberal), 10,358; A. H. Gell (Lab.),, 10.108; Colonel G. Hesketh (Unionist), 8697.]
