(From Our Special Correspondent.) ' Masterton, November 21. The Masterton Ladies'. Swimming Club, at a meeting held yesterday, decided to postpone tho annual carnival until February 27. The club has appointed Mr. Atkins, of Wellington, to be its delegate to tho Now, Zealand Swimming Associa-. tion. The Borough Council, which met last evening, instructed its engineer to bring clown a report on the question of forming a municipal bowling green in the public park. During the month of October, 2,721,000 onbic feet of gas was manufactured at the Masterton gasworks, being nn increase of 511,600 cubic feet compared with the same month last year. Tho Masterton Borough Coupoil gave "short shrift" to the resolution of the Waihi Borough Council, suggesting that borough employees be made to sign a declaration, affirming their loyalty to the King anil the Union Jack. The Mayor and' councillors stated that they had no reason at all to doubt the loyalty of the employees of the Masterton Council. The communication 1 from Waihi was "received." Advice has been received, that the Rev. H. and Mrs. Watson, who have been on a visit to the Old Country, reached Melbourne yesterday on their return home. Tho health of Mr. C. C. Boss, the wellknown Masterton broker, has been fery indifferent of late, and, acting on the advice of his medical attendant, he has taken a house at Mufitai for three months.
