Winston Churchill, First Lord of the Admiralty, in replying to a question in Parliament, denied that there had been delay in increasing the bluejackets' ■ pay in consequence of the allocation of the money to medical benefits under the Insurance Act. Answering a question whether the presence of the Fleet in the Near Bast had weakened the Home defence, Mr. Churchill declared that the Admiralty was satisfied that the Home Fleet was sufficient for the safety of the country.
