CITY PLAYING FIELDS.
RUGBY IJ3AGUE TURNED DOWN. The request oi the Wellington Kusbs> League for the privilege of using several play ins grounds within the city, and-of charging for admission on the maximum permissible number of flays came before the Reserves Committee-of the City Council yesterday afternoon. The Reserves Committee refused to entertain the proposal, and they have made a-recommen-dation to that effect to the council. It has been decided that the Basin. Reservo shall be made available for the playing of cricket matches on Wednesday, Decomber i, and for Saturday play on Do-, comber' 7. The ground is not to be opened for practice until later in the season.
