The postal authorities advise that the s.s. Zealandia, which sailed from Sydney on November 18 at noon, for Auckland, ihas'on board an Australian mail; also an English mail via Suez. The Wellington portion is due to arrive here by Main' Trunk on Saturday next, November 23. Tenders are to be called shortly by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society for the construction of necessary buildings, concrete tanks, etc., for a new fish hatchery at'Mastertpn. Tho hatchery hitherto used by the society is also at ■Mostorton, on a site leased from the A. E. Reynolds trust estate. This site has been sold to the Roman Catholic Church Trustees at Mosterton, and the society is under the necessity of finding new quarters. Under the lease which it is relinquishing, the society paid a year in. rent, and last year .its rates amounted to .£39. It has now obtained a lease of 10 acres of land for a period of 21 years, with right of renewal, at an annual rental of i!2O. Rates upon the property will amount to about £6 per annum, and it is ndir anticipated that they will increase with any rapidity. The society has purchased a freehold section, adjo'ining the hatchery site, on which to erect a cottage, stables, etc. ' When the Moeraki was en route from Sydney to Wellington on Sunday, a service was conducted by the Revs. Seaton (Anglican) and Blade (Congregational), at which £1 ss. was collected on behalf of the Shipwrecked Mariners' Relief fund. The fund-also benefited by a concert on Tuesday evening, when.the proceeds (.£3 2s. 6d.), were handed, over to the purser (Mr. Scott) to be forwarded to«the society. ...
