The Hon. W. P. Massey (Prime Minister) is at Auckland, together with the Hon. Jas. Allen, the Hon. W. H. Herries, the Hoit. R. H. Rhodes, and the Hon. Dr. Pomare. The Hon. P. M. B. Fisher is at Timarii (en route to Dunedin), and' the Hon. W. Fraser, who was at Clyde vesterday, will probably be at. Cromwell*today, and at Alexandria to-morrow. Mr. Fraser is expected to return to Wellington. on Sunday next. The only Cabinet Ministers in Wellington' at present are the Hon. A. L. Herdman and the Hon. H. D. Bell. The Rev. W. A. Evans, of the Newtown Congregational Church, is returning from a holiday trip by the Moeraki from Sydney to-day. He will be tendered a welcome at tho church on Friday evening. Sir James Mills, general manager of the Union Company, arrived in Auckland by the Marama last night from a trip to! England.—Press Association. Colonel B. M. Blennerhassfett, C.M.G., F.R.C.5.1., lias arrived at Melbourne in the Orient liner Osterley, en route to New Zealand. He entered the army in 1872 and TetiTed in 1906. In 1895 he saw service in. the Ashanti Expedition. Mr. J. Campbell, Government Architect, went north by the midday express yesterday, to be present at the opening of the new General Post Office at Auckland, of which he was the designer. Mrs. J. G. Fraser, an old and respected resident of Poverty Bay, died yesterday. The deceased lady came to Gisborne over forty years ago, and took a prominent part in defending Tolaga Bay • when To Kooti descended on that settlement, and is indeed regarded as one of tho heroines of the raids. Colonel Porter, in his book, says that Mrs. Fraser did Spartan duty in arming heTself with a gun and doing everything possible to instil a spirit of' courageous defence into the defenders unti! relief arrived. Great itffSrest was taken by many old friends and scholars in the 03rd annk versary servico in connection with the Alexandra Street Primitive Methodist Sunday School, Auckland, held on Sunday, ns it celebrated Mr. D. Goldie's 50th year in connection with the Sunday School. Mr. Goldio was born in Tasmania, and oame to Auckland in 1862. He served as a member of tho Provincial Council until it was abolished, afterwards being elected a member of Parliament. For ;14 years Mr. Goldio was a member of the City Council, and also served his term ns Mayor. • He has also been a momber of many local bodies. . For 50 years ho has served the Primitive Mcthqdist Church in many ways, and in recognition of his services he. was presented during the afternoon, with an extensivelysigned address. A large portrait of himself was also presented to him. Tho Mayor (Mr. C. J. Parr) spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Goldie's splendid work for tho city. The collection, including donations, amonnted to. .£lOl 17s. Sd. The members of the Grafton Road Choir (Auckland), who are to. compete for the Begg Shield,'arrived from the north last jeveninp.
