THE DEADLY PEA-RIFLE. AGAIN. A serious shooting accident occurred at Paparanga Point, between Ngahauranga ana Petone, yesterday , afternoon. A married man, named Charles Symes, was out Shooting with has son, and the latter, who was aimed with a pea-rifle, firod at a rabbit and shot his father in the back of the head. Mr. Symes was removed to the Wellington Hospital, and was reported to be in a critical condition, last night. Ho is 40 years of age, and resides at 00 Richmond Street, Petone.' DEATH AT THE HOSPITAL. Arthur Pudiiey, a plumber's machinist, who was seriously injured whilst working on the premises of Thomas Ballinger and Co., Victoria Street, on October 31, died at the Wellington Hospital yesterday morning. At tho timo of tho accident Pudney was bending over a revolving shaft, situated about 2ft. Gin. above the level of the floor. His clothing was caught in tho shafting, and ho was whirled round several times, but. a follow workman, who was close at hand, quickly stopped tho machinery. His injuries wore considered serious at tho time, and lie succumbed yesterday. Deceased, who formerly resided at Blucher Avenue, Newtown, was a singlo man, about 39 years of age. It is probable that an inquest will be held today. , Norman Robertson, a lad nine years of age, residing at 29 Henry Street, Kilbirnie, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday suffering from a broken leg, tho result of being knocked down by a bicycle. While playing at tho top' of a cliff at Lowry l?^.y' yesterday, a lad named Kenneth Jl'lvay, 8 years of age, fell some ton feet, and broke his-leg. Ho was brought into tho Wellington Hospital last evening. The injured lad resides with his parents at 889 Jaolnson Street, Petone.
