In St. Mary's Church, Timaru, tho marriage took place last week of Miss Dorothy Day, daughter of Mr. V. G. Day, S.M., and Mr. P. R. Malfroy, of Wellington. The Ven. Archdeacon Jacob conducted the service. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained gown of ivory satin, draped with ninon, and with lace yoke and sleeves. Her silk net veil, embroidered at the corners, was caught in with sprays of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white geraniums and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Miss Lorna Day and Miss Malfroy, wore pale blue satin empire frocks, trimmed with white loco, and large black crinoline hats lined with tulle, and' with crowns made of tullo rosettes, re-' lieved at one side with, a big apricot9liaded rose. Mr. J. D. Harpeir (Chiistchurch) was best man, and Mr. W. D. Revoll groomsman. Mrs. Day wore a gown of black and white silk, trimmed with black lace and | velvet, and a small bjack and white hat | with black ostrich feathers.' Mrs. MalI froy (Hokitika) was in black satin, black hat with white plumes. The. bride's going-away oostume was a biscuit-coloured coat and skirt with touches of brown, and large brown hat with pink roses and white lace. A Presentation, Dr. Neil M'Dougjall, medical officer to the Auckland nursing division of tho St. John Ambulance Brigade, has been, presented by offioers and nursing sisters of the organisation with a handsome ice chest as a mark of appreciation for his services for a number of years past. The presentation was made by Lieutenivnt-. Colonel Barclay, Chief Commissioner of the Brigade for the Dominion, at the last meeting of the division. Women's Reform League in Chrlstchurch. At a meeting of the Christchur'c¥ Women's branch of the New Zealand Political Reform League, held last Thursday evening, several addresses on defence matters were delivered. The president of the branch, Mrs. P. Haslain, presided, and the speakers were Colonel G. S. Heard, Director of Military Training for the Dominion; Major W. Pinwill, general staff i officer; Colonel Slater, .and the Mayor (Mr. H. Holland). In the course of her opening speech, the president said that girls should learn' how to use a rifle; it would come in handy. Several women had expressed their willingness to shoulder a rifle in order to shame the young, men who refused to learn how to do their duty. St. Augustine's Croquet' Club. The official opening, of the St. Augustine's Croquet Club, Petone, took place on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. T. M. Wilford, patroness of tho club, who declared the season open;' congratulated members upon, their, green,, and wished- the club; eyery success. . Soveral sets were then, played between St. Augustine's Club and the Ngaroma Club. Afternoon; teal Vais served in the club-house by "faembers'of the committee. The Petone Brass Band added fo tie gaiety of the proceedings with a bright programmes of music. • Senior Cadets. /- ■ To the fund for shooting prizes for the Dominion Cadets, promoted'Dy Mrs. Godley, additional amounts have been received as follow:—Collected by Mrs. G. A very enjoyable dance was given on Saturday evening by Mrs. J; W. Henderson at her home at Karori. Miss Buddie (Auckland) has been' the guest of Mrs. C.. Griffiths while pissing through to the north from a visit to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. P. Wayniouth (Christchurch), who have been spending 6ome months in England, passed through Wellington last week on their way through to their home. Sir Henry and Lady Miller left Wellington for the south last week. Mrs. L. Patterson (Wanganui) is visiting Mrs. A. Warburton, The Terrace. A large gathering of members and friends attended the opening of the newlyformed St. Augustine s Croquet' Club on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. J. S. Montague arrived in Wellington from Christchurch. by the ferry steamer on Sunday morning to join her husband who is staying at the Albert Hotel during the period of his duties as judge, of the elocutionary contests at the New Zealand Competitions Society's festival in the Town Hall.
