FAREWELL TO THE GOVERNOR
THE CIVIC GOOD-BYE. Tho civic farewell to his Excellency Lord Islington will tako plncG in tho Town Hall at 8 p.nii On Thursday next, ami will be presided over by the Mayor (Mr. M'Laren)._ Tho programme will consist of a few brief speeches by representative citizens, and of musical items by the City Orgiuiist (Mr. Maughan Bariiett), tho Royal Wellington Choral Society ot' 270 voices, tho Orpheus Quartet, Mr. John Prouse, and Miss ])eu!mrd. As the meeting is a public one, no .tickets of admission are being issued, but notifications have boen forwarded to local bodies, friendly societies, representative institutions generally, and others in the city, inviting them to be present. A portion of the galleries near tho platform will be reserved for individual representatives. It will only'bo possible to accommodate the speakers and the members of tho Wellington City Council on tho platform. Tho whole of tho space in tho cuoir gal. lerj; will l>e occupied by the Choral Society. The veterans will occupy the front row 011 the floor space, and the members of friendly societies (if in'regalia) the seats immediately at the back of the veterans. The rest of tho hall will be free to tho general public. Tho door in Mercer Street will lie opened for the special representatives at 7 p.ni./and the main doors will be opened at 7.15 p.m. Tho special seating above referred to will be retained Until 7.45 p.m;, after which j all seats will be available to tho general public. .
