' ft : ' , (From Oar Special Correspondent.) Masterton,. November 15. A race in connection with the? Masterton Homing Pigeon Club was flown from Taumarunui yesterday, the air-line being 155 miles. Mr. A. Miller's "Too Fast" proved the winner, with a ' velocity, of 1405 yds. per minute. Mr. C. Spencer Compton, the new organist at St. Matthew's Church, gave a recital last night before a .crowded audience. The programme was very . much appreciated by those present. The attendance, at the Masterton District High School of late has been very satisfactory. In . the - primary section, with a roll number of 828, the percentage of attendances for the past month was 96. ' Proceedings are being instituted against several settlers in this district for failing to take the necessary steps to destroy rabbits on their properties.. ! The.. Masterton Golf Club, will conclude its season-on the, I&nsdowne links tomorrow with a mixed foursome inatch and various competitions. Buyers of fat stock consider that the present Beason will be from a month to six weeks later than last season. / The examination for sixth standard proficiency certificates at the Masterton District High School ; will commence on November 25. The:examination for senior free places and junior civil service will take .place on November 19..
