NATIVE LAND SALES.

0 , IN THE WANGANUI DISTRICT. Some areas of Native land in the Wanganui district, vested in the Aotea Maori Land Board, have jusit been disposed of by sale and/lease. The land is one of tho celebrated Ohuto blocks, lying between the Wanganui River on the west, and Field's track on the'east.. Three. sections which were eold consist of land fronting the Parapara road. As showing the benefit conferred by tho, construction of this road and the "consequent opening up of the country, it is stated that it has added from ninepence to two shillings an acre to tho rent of the lands affected. The three blocks which were sold contained respectively 495, 10S2, and 1345 acres. The prices obtained ranged from £i lGs, to £i ss. an acre. A number of Native sections have also - been disposed of by lease in the vicinity of Oliakune, and in tho Retaiuke and Kaitieke blocks. These sections brought from the upset rent placed upon them to double that amount. Tho rents varied from Is. to. 15s. per aero. The lands sold are to be paid for over a period of ten years by twenty half-yearly instalments, five per cent, interest' being paid on the unpaid balance. The money as it comes in will bo handed to the Native owners, less expenses. •
