Association .opened to-day, in. fine weather'. I For a-first day, the attendance' : was very. satisfactory, but the, public; will not appear l An' full force until ■ People's. Day. (to-morrow).. The slo# is'right'up to the best Wanganui standard, bnt;.,it, is unfortunate for the association- that a good many of the classes. have .only at-, traoted two or three; breeders, and though ' manyibf .these classes .are fairly etrong-as to the actual.; number of entries, -. there is a lack.of .variety as regards breeders.. _ Tho, hoises, particularly- the:-light, division,-, are a. very- strong'section, and satisfactory entries, have also 'been drawn by "draught classes.;: Special interest 'attaohes to this division, owing to' the competition for -the!Tehampion challenge shields; for the North Island, to be decided to-morrow. The entries include Horses from, the stables of Mrs. J. • D. • OrniOnd—who, by - the way, Aid not" exhibit- any of. .her fine stock-at Paliflerston— Mr. E. Short, Messrs. Rhodes. Bros., .'Mr^j,.
