AT WAIKING.
GELIGNITE EXPLOSION, TWO EETQLVERS. Waihi, November 12. An exciting affair occurred last' night at Waikiuo. It appears that aspersions had-been cast on an arbitrationist by some members of the Federation. A body of the former proceeded to the Union Hall in the evening, with the purpose of gaining 'entrance; It is stated that just as tho arbitrationists wero about to enter a plug of gelignite, with a cap and lighted fuse attached,, was thrown by somebody in the hall in th«'direction of the crowd. - Nobody was hurt, but the explosion was tcrr. riiic, and was iieatd a distance of miles away. The arbitrationists luckily had given'the cap a wide berth in time, thus Baviijg their lives. Bvontually the arbitrationists gained an entrance, and searched all the Federationists within the building. Two of the latter had' revolvers in their possession, and these Were taken. . , Later. Waikino is said to be clear of Federationists. Many departures took place day.Several of the homes of Federationists. who havo been conspicuous in calling out f "scab''' and other epithets to workers and their wcrnehfolk haVp been visited. The inmates wero told that they would have forty-eight hours to leave the town or they must take the consequences. In one instance the Federationist replied that he would bo'-carried to- the cemetery -beforo he would clear out.
