The St. John Ambulance Meeting, A meeting of those interested, in the 'work of the St. Johii;,Ambulance Association was held-in the Mayor's room of the -Town Hull yesterday afternoon. The Mayoress, Mrs. M'Laven, presided, and opened proceedings by briefly referring to the object which they all hud in now—' tho making of arrangements in connection with Ambulance Saturday. At the outset, some exception was taken to the fact that ths Allocations of the funds which were expected to result from tho campaign luid|not been already arranged,'as the workers, in their Canvass, thought it. desirable that they should be able to state what particular branch of the St. John work they were receiving donations for. in reply, the chairman uf the committee of the St. John Ambulance Association, Mr. C. P.- Powles, said that a meeting of the Central Committee would be held almost immediately, when tho allocations and their .proportion would be decided. This announcement was approved of. The question of a house-to-house canvass instead of, as upon preceding occasions, deploying the streets next received con-, eideratiou. and it is quite likely that both methods will be followed. Badges to those pooplo who give a shilling and upwards to the funds will 1)0 given to save them from .receiving too.much.attention, from earnest canvassers. An apology for her unavoidable .absence (through ill-health) was received from Mrs. S. A; Rhodes, together with her good wishes for the. success of the campaign.
