, TROPHIES FOE COMPETITION. The Wanganui Show, which is to begin .to-morrow, is well endowed with shields ,'imd cups. The two shields' offered by the 'North Island Draught Horse Society are being competed for for the first time in , /New Zealand at the show. The one given, .for, the champion draught entire is val- * ned at 35 guineas, and that for ths champion, draught mare-is valued at 25 guineas.. They are both exceptionally fine tro-; phieSj'and should be very Keenly compet- ■" od for between draught horse breeders of the North Island. The winners of the shields will have their names engraved thereon and hold the same for one year, . and.on handing over will receive a gold medal, in lieu thereof. In addition to these two valuable trophies. there are to ( be'won' right out two silver cups, Mr. j 'Wm.' Watson, of Masterron donating the E one to the champion draught entire and Mr. Wm. Todd, sen'., of Aramoho, donating, the other for the champion draught , ; mare. Light horses are also well pro- I vided for, the Wanganui Licensed Vic- J tuallers having presented a handsome c.up for the winner of the Hunters' Competition, whilst the runner-up will secure a' •; cup presented by Messrs. Thain and Co. [ The winner of the third prize ; will be t entitled'to Messrs; Young and Collins's 9 trophy, a' huntsman's companion. The ' silver cup for the winner of the Steeple- 1 chase; Competition is donated by.Messrs.. 1 Williams andiCo. ■ The cattle men are also well provided for. In the Hcrefprds, Mr. J. The challenge cup given t for 'the exhibitor scoring the most noints ' in crossbred classes was won in 1910 by .Mr. C Duncan, and in 19.11 ,by .Mr. John Wilson.
