Girls* 100 yds. handicap—Silver-mounted, purse, Miss King. , ' Thread-the-needie' race—Silver niug,' Miss Hurray. Three-legged raceTravelling basket, Miss Beaninj; brushes and case, Miss Edwards. Open handicap (men)— First prize, silver'mounted efeiO' brushes and case, TV Hedges; second, cricket bat, A. Williams. Married men's race—First prize, J-trin coal, E. Smith; second prize, bag of flour, J!. Warcup. La-dies' 120 yds. handicap—First. prize, ladies' companion, Mrs Looner; second ■prize, manicure'set, Mrs. Hedley. Ladyvisitors' race—First prize, manicure set, Jlrs, Proebstall; second'prize, umbrella, Mrs. Smith. In addition .there were several children's races, and every child attending the picnic got a prize, A goad lunch was pro* • v'ided by the .Vienna Pastry Cookery. Handicapper J. Rhodes gave ample satisfaction. On assembling at/the station for the return home, Mr. Wivrcup, in a neat. little speech, voiced the thanks of the employees and all joined in giving hearty cheers for the manager and his wife,. snd to the management- of the Union Steam Ship Company, whose generosity had provided the bulk of the cost of.the outing.
