Whajstrom, master of tho coastal 6tcamor Putiki, advised the Iceal agents (Messrs. Johd6t6n and Co.) yesterday that his' vessel had sustained some damage at Westport. It appears that while tho union Company's coUier Waipori was moving from one berth to another eho struck the Plrtiki, and bent two frames and a gusset plats in the forepeak. The Putiki was said to have received a severe shaking. It was only recently that Messrs. Johnston and Co. had the Putiki on the Patens Slip at Wellington for repairs and overhaul. During that time particular attention wog raid to tbs foropeak-a difficult place to get at. This week the master of tho Putiki was compelled to put into Nelson, whilst bound from Wangauui to Westport, for repata! to the vessel'* rudder.
