The Horowlienua, Horticultural and In* dustrial- Society's Show promises to be a success, it being expected;, that the display of flowers will eclipse anything: previously seen here. The Hon. w. F. Massey will probably accept the society's invitation to be present and open the show, while among• other guests will be Mr. J. Robertson, 11.3?. for the district, and Mrs. Robertson, . Among the competitors at the coming elocutionary contests, in Wellington, will be a number of local competitors. These include Mr. Brown, Mfes Brown, ■ Master Brow% Mrs. H. 0. Jones, and Messrs. Naughton and Judd. i Otaki. possesses no fire-fighting appliances, but n movement is on foot to secure something to cope with a possible outbreak, and it is probable that a meeting will be called at' an' early date to consider the matter. Recently an extensive outbreak occurred here, and had it not been for n private water service, the consequences would have been much more serious than they actually wete. -,■ A confirmation service was held here on Tuesday evening, when a number of candidates, chiefly adults, were confirmed by Bishop Sprottj of Wellington,
