The. chairman moved that permission be granted subject to the contractor' forwarding a deposit until tho work was .done. In regard to a request from Mr. C. J. Strand, lessee of Gear Island, that the board should execute certain improvements, itwas resolved to spend .£4B provided that tho lessee does the same and keeps all fences in repair, all work to be done under the supervision of the board's overseer. The overseer reported that the cutting of-: noxious growths had been completed niid that the City Council had complied, with the conditions regarding the laying of their water mains over the river.
