METHODIST SYNOD.
(By Teleeraph.— AssaclalTon.) • Dannevirka, ifoveniber 7. , The sitting of the Wellington District Methodist Synod Concluded'to-day. The report on church property stated . that three new. churches have been erected and opened during the year, at a total cost of JMI64, with a seating accommodation of 790. They were at Hastings, Ka- . rori, and Te Hbro. The sum of JG2913 was 'owing to the church building and loan [ fund by properties in the district, - The Foreign Mission Committee recommended that after, separation, from Hit [ Australian General Conference next yeai endeavours should be made to secure s j portion of the South Sea Islands as a Neft Zealand foreign mission district, Maori work not to be included in the foreign mission field. The Eev. J. A.Hoaldng was elected re presentative to the conference, and th< Eev, J. Ward as substitute. ' *The' statistical reports for the district showed that eleven circuits showed increases iu church membership; Wellington South, Taranaki Street (Wellington), ant Woodville being the principal ones. The b total increase was 191. Seven circuits re corded slight decreases, totalling 29. Junior members increased by SO, Sundaj school scholars had ihcreased by- lftl, despite tho fact that (hero tfero less schools while the cradle roll members increased •nearly 200. The Synod expressed .sympathy witt ;.- the Bib!c-in-scliools i question, and th< \. general agreement of the Churches oh ths question. Conference i 3 to be recommended to reappoint Hie E»t, T. 6.
