Ho sai< that Mr. Cocks had excellent credentials and he felt sure that this , would lx borne out, and his ; wovk would receivi elftcient support in Wellington, Mr Johnston also expressed his regret at thi departure of Mr. F. S. Shell, the lat< missioner, and paid a high tribute t< his 'work. In reply,' Mr. Cocks stated that hi hoped he would be able to fulfil the ox peotations expressed by Mr. Johnston He proceeded to briefly outline his coursi of work, and laid stress the neec for a good.band and the right religion; sentiment. Mr, H. Simmonds presented Mr. Shell with an address in recognition of the work which ho had done in Wellington, and expressed regret nt his departure, In returning- thanks Mr. Shell asked that-the address [ might be hung on the wall of tho mission building. An attrnetivo musical entertainment was contributed by Mesdamcs Mueller, Willis, and Mason, Misses Bnrtley, D. Jones, Watkhis, and Mueller, and Messrs, Crump and Martin. !
