The Auckland •-General Labourers' lUni'on held.a special meeting on Friday evening last to further discuss the question of again,registering under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. The meeting was well attended, the members show- . ing keen interest. It. will bo remembered .'that, :a. short time ago, a ballot of the union, was taken on the following: pro- ' .xjosals:— -•' ' : 1.; That, this: union register Tinder .'the Arbitration Act. 2. .That this union adopts the principles arid methods of the I.W.W. of America.- , ~' , , • The ballot favoured tho proposal to register, but this cours9 was not. followed out immediately, it being decided that the matter should be further discussed at the first' favourable opportunity. At Friday's meeting,- the matter was thoroughly gone .'into, and it was decided to .re-register immediately, it being recog.niscd by the members that this/course \vas the:besfc in tbo interests of the union. Tho question as to whether the union. \rill secede from the Federation of Labour . "was'not discussed, but it is anticipated that a further special meeting will bo r held to deal with this question. •- If the statements made bj'&;.number ot . prominent members- of . the . union can be ; taken as an indication, the feeling exist.ing in the rank and file of the union is strongly antagonistic to the Federation.
