Hauiuin, draper, for a sum of lis., camo up for hearing before Mr. Kettle, S.M., at tho Magistrate's Court tin's morning, and provided some diverting moments. Neither of tlio parties iu tire case was represented by counsel, and Hannaiij in conducting his own defencc, camo repeatedly into conflict with the magistrate (Mr. Kettle). Eventually the,- case was adjourned. At one stngo his Worship called a witness and ordered him to produco some accounts which lie had previously been asked for. "lou needn't bring them," interjected Hamwin. "They don't affect the cuse." "It is very diifieult to deal with a man like you," said Mr. Kettle sternly. "I have given orders to this man and yon tell lum lo disobey them. It is gross .contempt of Court. A meeting of Hamilton, business men last night decided to form a motor transport company,, with a capital of JaOOl), . to institute a motor-bus service between : Hamilton and Fraiiktan, to serve the public travelling on the Main T.i'unk trains. The-Main Trunk runs through Franjiton Junction, a. niile froni"Hamilton. There are thirteen passenger trains daily, and with a fast motor service and fares.nominal i it is hoped to bring people . Waiting .'to ] exchange trains at the junction to Hamilton .in tho interests of business neople. Exhaustive inquiries lmve been made into nil- possible, systems, including electric, -rail and rail less cars, and the Edison storage car, but the motor-bus was favoured. it is hoped to start the service before tho New Year. At the inquest held to-day touching the death of Sydney John Howard, who died from injuries received by jumping from a balcony at the firo in Queen Street eartv this morning, a verdict of death.by misadventure was returned.
