— 0— —— Mr. E. M. Kyan, the' secretary of the ! Y.M.G.A,,, was the speaker at the service • for 1 boys at tho 'Boy.s ! institute, ArtlniT Street, last evening. He'spoke of.the necessity for a deep Christian faith (that, would enable a man, if need be, to die fpr his religion. In illustrating his theme from the-history of England during.the reigns of Elizabeth and. James I, lie mentioned the fifth of : November plot, for .wliich a number of men lost their lives as an outcome'of the intensity, of their religious faith. While he cordially disliked anything in the nature of religions persecution, Mr. Ry'an said that even from' Guy Fnwkes. lessons of courage, and fidelity could be learned, and in these prey sent days of secure tolerance, strong and faithful Christian characters were needed. He concluded by putting three questions to the boys: Have.yon.a -religion, and if so, what is it? Are you true to it? and Arts you prepared to die for. it? l The hearty thanks of tho meeting wore accorded to Mr. Ryan. Mr. J. G. W. Aitken will be the speaker at the service heit Sunday evening.
