SOME APPEAL COURT HUMOUR. "Costs" formed tho subject of a brief discussion in the Court of Appeal yesterday during argument on a motion for leavo to appeal to tho Privy Council. Appellant was to pay respondent's costs as well as his own, and the Court was asked to limit tho amount. Tho sum of ,£SOO was suggested, but the Hon. H. D. Bell, K.C., who was appearing for appellant, said that respondent's costs rarely exceeded .6250—appellant's were rarely moro than if tho Court gave them .£SOO, respondents would spend it. Mr. C. B. Morison, for respondent, failed to see how tho bill of costs could bo swelled. Mr. Justice Edwards: Making up a bill of costs is a fine art. Mr. Morison: A lost art, your Honour. Mr. Justice Edwards: Not lost in London. ... If they are allowed three hundred they will see that it is filled out. Mr. Morison: I hope they will leave something for the solicitor in New Zealand,
