Soon after the Fedcral-Shiro liner Surrey hail berthed at the Tnrnunki Sti-oot Wharf yesterday morning, tho lilneklxiil Coal Company's collier Ngatoro was ordered to bunker coal on board, When comina up alongside the Surrey, the fluko of the Ngatoro's anchor pierced tho plates in tlm hull of the former vessel. The holo mado was jutjt nbaft No. 1 hatch, well above tho water-lino, and on thf starboard side. Messrs. Cable nnd Co, were given, tho order for temporary r» pail's.
About i p.m. another collision occurred, this tune in tho vicinity of Custom Ilonso Quay breastwork. The ferry steamer Karaka was engaged in towing the hulk Countess of Errol to a berth alongside tho coastal steamer Wakatu. At tho time, both tho tug and tho hulk IV l way on, with tho result that the Countess" gave the Wakatu a somewhat severe bump, nnd stove in a plate. The captain of tho hulk very promptly let go his anchor, thus material' ly dimimsmng the force of impact.
