-OPENING DAY TO-MORROW. The twenty-seventh, nnnual eliow of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association is to be opened at tho Pnlmerston Show Grounds to-morrow, and will continue on Thursday and Friday. With record entries, and the wliolo of tlie preliminary arrangements well iu hand, tho gathering bids fair to add another triumph to the long list of successes which stand to the credit of the progressiva Manawatu body. THE USE OF FERTILISERS. - TWELVE MONTHS IMPORTS. During the year ended March 81 last tho following fertilisers were imported into Wellington:— Basic slag—United Kingdom, 2051 tens; Germany, 50 tons. Superphosphates— United Kingdom, 1928 tons; Victoria, 1151 tons; New South Wnles, 653 tons; Germany, 250 tons; Holland, 125 tons. Guano —United Kingdom, 1 ton; Victoria, 129 tons; Maiden Island, 618 tons. Phosphate United Kingdom, 467 tons; .Victoria, 98 tons; New South Wales, 15 tons.' Sulphate of potash—United Kingdom, 36 tons; New South Wales, 1 ton; Germany, 155 tons. Kainit—United Kingdom, 58 tons; Germany, 263 tons. Gyp-, sum—Victoria, 42!) tons; New South. Wales, 30 tons; South Australia, 30 tons; Germany, 10 tons. Sulphate of ammonia—United Kingdom, 5 tons. Nitrate of soda—New South Wales, 2 tons. Nitrolim—Norway, 15 tons. Grass-fertil-Kingdom, 36 tons. Unenum-. erated—New. South Wales,'l'ton. The total value of the fertilisers inw ported into New Zealand during the twelve months was '.£353,327, as against ,£270,282 for the corresponding period last yea!.
