It is eslininbed that about 9000 signatures have been ,atfcached to tho address to be presented at Auckland to the Prime Minister ■ (the Hon. W. F. Massey), but the . exact figures will not be known till to-morrow or Wednesday. The testimonial will bo presented to tho Prime Minister when no Auckland to open tho new pest office buildings. Mrs. Georgo Snow, who was the first white woman to land in Nelson, passed away at' Wanganui last week. Tho deceased lady, who was 73 years of age, came out to Nelson by the barque Martha liidgway in'lßil. Sho leaves a husband, four sons, two daughters, and numerous grandchildren. Mr. J. H. Board, the well-known Gloucestershire professional cricketer, and also coach to the Bawkc's Bay Cricket Association, arrived here from London by the Tainui yesterday. ■■ He is accompanied by Sirs. Board. They proceed on to A'apier to-day. ; Mr. James F. Lain?, who has for several years represented Messrs. W. G. Turnbull and Co. oil the West Coast, leaves for -London next Friday. Mr. Laing will bo accompanied by Mrs. Laing. Our Masterton correspondent states that, at a gathering of the staff of tho Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association yesterday, Mr. Myor Caselberg, i manager of the association, was presented ' with an illuminated address and album in recognition of liis having occupied his present position for 21 years. Ho also received a presentation of silver plate from his co-directors. *
A Press Association message from Woodville yesterday states that Mr. William Bliss, n very old resident, died yesterday morning at 10. o'clock. Ho\'hnd been in business in Wondvillo since IRB3. He leaves a family of five, all of whom are married.
